Directory of Social Change to close with 25 job losses as insolvency practitioner appointed

Por: Atlántico Hoy27 oct 2026
The Directory of Social Change, a charity sector support body that has operated for more than 50 years, has appointed an insolvency practitioner to manage its closure. All 25 staff will lose their jobs.

Leaders pointed to tighter budgets among beneficiaries, higher supplier and National Insurance costs, greater competition and difficult funding conditions. Appeals to key funders did not secure a way forward.

Accounts to 31 December 2024 showed income of £1.91m, mostly from publications, against expenditure of £1.64m. Funds Online stays open for existing subscribers, and books and downloads remain on sale while the practitioner works towards full closure. Customers with course or event bookings will be contacted.
